Marketplace reporting
How to review profit across Amazon, eBay, and Walmart
A repeatable workflow for reviewing marketplace sales, product costs, fees, shipping, and pending adjustments across Amazon, eBay, and Walmart.
Start with one reporting period
A combined sales total is a starting point. To understand what remains after costs, review the same reporting period across Amazon, eBay, and Walmart, then check the records behind each channel. Differences in dates, order status, or cost completeness can make two totals look inconsistent even when both reports describe real activity.
Choose the month you want to review and use it consistently. Keep marketplace statements available so you can investigate differences. A payout is a movement of funds; an order report describes sales activity. Avoid treating the two as interchangeable without checking which transactions and dates each includes.
Review each channel before combining them
Begin with a dedicated marketplace view. Check orders, refunds, fees, shipping, and product costs. Fulfillment matters: a seller-purchased shipping label and a fulfillment charge are different expenses. Look at the source of a charge before assigning it to an order or assuming it is already included elsewhere.
MarginAIO provides individual Amazon, eBay, and Walmart dashboards alongside a combined overview. Use the channel view to investigate an unusual number, then return to the overview to understand that channel’s contribution to the business.
- Use the same month and year for every channel.
- Check canceled and refunded orders separately from completed sales.
- Review fees and shipping against the available marketplace records.
- Identify products that still need a cost entry.
Keep pending costs visible
A missing charge does not establish that the cost was zero. Marketplace records can arrive after the order and can be revised later. A profit figure based on incomplete costs should remain provisional until those gaps are resolved.
In MarginAIO, use the reconciliation status to separate reported amounts from estimated or pending costs. When reviewing a prior month, check whether new fees, shipping expenses, refunds, or adjustments have appeared since your last review. Record unresolved items so the next review starts with a clear list.
Use the combined overview to choose the next action
After reviewing the individual channels, compare their contribution in the combined overview. Look at sales alongside product costs and marketplace expenses. A channel with more sales can still need attention if its costs are incomplete or its expenses have changed.
Finish with specific actions: update missing product costs, investigate an unmatched expense, or revisit a pending marketplace adjustment. Export the reporting period when you need to share the underlying records for a bookkeeping review. Keep the unresolved items alongside that export so an early snapshot is not mistaken for a final close.
